A simple cup of tea and a shared vision - that’s all it took to set in motion a wave of transformation that would ripple through an entire Ugandan community.
At the center of this inspiring story stands Moses Ouma, a dedicated head teacher whose passion for education has found a powerful ally in Empowering Ugandans.
It also involves your support of Jeff and Yvonne Weinstein, lovingly called “Papa Jeff” and “Mama Yvonne” by the Ugandans.
“I first met Mama Yvonne during a visit to their home,” Moses recalls, his eyes twinkling with the memory. “We went with Pastor Simon to share with them the vision for the school and a new library.” Little did Moses know that this humble meeting would be the first step towards revolutionizing education in his community.
The impact of Empowering Ugandans and its generous donors has been nothing short of transformative. “They have made a very big difference,” Moses emphasizes. The tangible results of this support are evident throughout the school:
Infrastructure Improvements: Four new classroom blocks have been added, significantly increasing the school’s capacity to accommodate more students.
Enhanced Learning Environment: The classrooms are now furnished with desks and other essential furniture, creating a comfortable and conducive learning space.
Expanded Educational Offerings: The school has established pre-K and kindergarten classes, providing a strong foundation for young learners.
A Well-Stocked Library: Once just a dream, the library is now a reality, filled with books that open new worlds for students and community members alike.
Community Engagement: The library has become a magnet for families in the community. “Last year we had few children visit our library from the community. But this year we are attracting many children and their families,” Moses shares proudly.
Agricultural Education: With the provision of seeds for eggplant, corn, and flowers, students are learning valuable lessons about growing their own food. “With the seeds, the children see how to grow their own food for the first time. They grow vegetables that are good for their bodies,” Moses explains.
Improved Accessibility: A proper road to the school has been constructed, making it easier for students and staff to access the facility.
The impact of these improvements extends far beyond the school grounds. Moses notes that many new families have become aware of their ministry because of the library, highlighting how education can be a powerful tool for community outreach and development.
But perhaps the most touching aspect of this partnership is the deep personal connection that has formed. “Papa Jeff and Mama Yvonne are very loved here, they are like family to us,” Moses says warmly. This sentiment of gratitude extends to all the donors of Empowering Ugandans. “We pray regularly that God will bless and protect them,” he adds.
As I reflect on the journey of Moses Ouma and his school, I am reminded of the profound impact that targeted, support can have. What started as a vision shared between a few individuals has grown into a vibrant reality that’s nurturing minds, bodies, and spirits.
All because people like you gave!
To the donors of Empowering Ugandans: Your generosity is not just building classrooms or stocking libraries. You’re sowing seeds of change that will bear fruit for generations to come. You’re providing children with the tools they need to grow, learn, and thrive. You’re strengthening communities and opening doors of opportunity.
As Moses and his students continue to cultivate their garden of knowledge, they carry with them the indelible mark of your kindness and support. Your investment in their future is yielding a harvest of hope, education, and empowerment that will continue to grow and flourish.
Thank you for being part of this incredible journey of transformation. Together, we’re not just
changing schools – we’re changing lives.
